Director Biography
Merlyn Aude is recently retired and working on learning the joys of his new
employment status. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education - vocal emphasis -
from UW-Eau Claire and taught music for 36 years. Plum City High School is where
he spent the majority of those years teaching both vocal and instrumental
music. Merlyn directed the Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz Choir, Concert Band, Pep Band,
Marching Band, and Jazz Band. He was also advisor at one time or another to
several school organizations including Student Council and Yearbook. Merlyn is still
active as a conductor for the Valley Gospel Choir based in Eau Claire. He has been
associated with the VGC for 16 years. Music performance has also been a major part
of his life. He played in rock ‘n roll bands for 37 years and continues to perform
several times a year in the pit orchestra for the Eau Claire Children’s Theater, the
Chippewa Valley Theater Guild, and area high schools and universities.
He is also a member of the Tom Sobel Band. In his sparetime, Merlyn
enjoys skiing, motorcycling, golfing, fishing, gardening, landscaping, and
traveling. Retirement should allow him to finally get to the last 3 of the 50 states
(AL, HI, VT) and the final 1 of the 7 continents (Australia).
